the remodel
After 10 long years of the cross-border commute, our dream finally became a reality, and as 2022 kicked into gear, we were off and running. 12 acres in the Hill Country brought new responsibilities while unlocking exciting opportunities. So where did we start? With yet another commute, this time a daily one from Austin, as we completed the renovation and transformation of our little casita - bringing Style 208 to life in Fredericksburg, Texas. We were ready to move in after eight months of demo, drywall and dust - and lots and lots of landscaping.

Even though this little beauty is only 800 square feet, she sure feels like a mansion. We knew we wanted - and needed - to maximize our space in order to feel right at home. It's a testament to thinking outside the box and finding ways to create things that weren't already there. Doorways were heightened so that our heavy, carved 8-foot barn doors had the space they required, and the floors, walls and ceilings came together in one seamless creamy color, taking your eye up, giving the illusion of a larger space.
A two-door mango wood cabinet now doubles as the kitchen pantry (and wine storage, of course.) And baskets and boxes serve to tuck away items. It's cozy, romantic, and oh so liveable.
